Draw up a key plan or locking plan
Design and order your custom made key plan now. With a key plan or locking plan (also called a locking system or key system) you have complete control over who has access to which rooms. With the master key, you as the owner or manager have access to all doors in the complex, while the user keys can only open specific doors. Start designing your locking system here, whether it's traditional keys or electronic access control.
What is a key plan?
A key plan is an essential part of managing access to a building or complex. It ensures that only authorized persons have access to certain areas, while unauthorized persons are locked out. By drawing up a good key plan, you can improve the safety and security of your property and minimize potential risks.
A key plan consists of a detailed overview of all access points to the building, such as doors, gates and elevators, as well as which keys are needed to open them. It is important to have a clear and organized key plan so that you can respond quickly in the event of an emergency or loss of a key.
Benefits of a key plan
A key plan offers several benefits for organizations and companies:
- Security: With a well-thought-out key plan, only authorized persons can gain access to specific rooms or buildings. This helps prevent unauthorized access and secures the organization's assets and sensitive information.
- Efficiency: A key plan can also help streamline the management of keys within an organization. By organizing which keys access which areas, staff can quickly and efficiently access the areas they need.
- Cost effective: With a good key plan, organizations can save costs on replacing lost keys or installing new locks. Centralizing key management can help keep track of who has which keys, reducing the risk of loss or theft.
- Flexibility: A key plan can also provide flexibility for organizations that regularly change personnel or suppliers. It's easy to adjust access levels and assign keys to new employees or contractors without having to install new locks.
- Transparency: With a key plan, organizations can have an overview of which keys are used for what and who has access to different areas. This can help manage security and reduce the risk of unauthorized access.

What should you take into account when drawing up a locking plan?
When developing a key plan, it is important to consider several factors, such as the layout of the building, the number of employees and visitors, working hours and security needs. By considering these factors, you can tailor a key plan that perfectly meets the needs of your organization.
A key plan can be organized in different ways, depending on the complexity of your building and the different levels of access rights you want to assign. For example, a simple key plan may consist of only a few groups of keys, while a complex key plan may include multiple hierarchical levels, such as master keys, major keys, and sub-keys.
What types of locking plans are there?
Sluitsysteem met generale hoofdsleutel (GHS)
A general master key system (GHS) is a system in which multiple locks are operated with different keys, but where one master key can open all locks. This can be useful in situations where different people need access to different areas, but one person needs to have access to all areas.
This locking system can improve access control and security of a building, as it provides the ability to manage access to different areas without requiring each person to be in possession of a master key. For example, cleaners may only have access to the areas they need to clean, while management has access to all areas in the building.
This system is often used in hospitals, schools, healthcare institutions and companies with multiple buildings.
Locking system with master key (HS)
A master key system (HS) is a system in which there is one master key that provides access to multiple doors or rooms. This master key can be used by, for example, a caretaker, manager or owner to gain access to different areas within a building or site.
The master key system makes it possible to manage and control access to different areas, without the need for dozens of keys. This makes the management of the keys simpler and clearer.
The system can be expanded with different levels of key authorities, so that certain keys only provide access to specific doors or rooms. This provides extra security and control over who has access to certain areas.
The master key system is used, among other things, in companies where a central service requires access to all areas.
Locking plan with central cylinder
With a central cylinder locking plan, common doors can be operated with different keys. This allows each resident to use their own front door key to gain access to, for example, the shared bicycle shed or container space, but not open the neighbors' front doors.
This system is often used in apartment complexes.
Key plans with SKG-certified cylinders
We use certified cylinders for our locking systems. The S2 (S6, F6) or ISEO (F6, F9) cylinders meet the SKG quality mark (SKG three stars or SKG two stars) and the Police Quality Mark Safe Living, which means the locking plan has a long lifespan and your doors are optimally secured. For extra user-friendliness, you can choose the S2 F6 SKG two-star cylinder with reversible key, which fits in the lock in two ways. This inspection key is always suitable.
What are the costs of a locking plan?
The costs of a key plan vary depending on the scope of the locking plan and the choice of cylinders. It is important to choose the right cylinder based on the situation. Cylinders with core pull protection may be more expensive, but if these can be combined with SKG*** door fittings with core pull protection, this may not always be necessary.
You can make a rough calculation in advance of what the costs will approximately be. We work with certain surcharges on top of the standard prices:
Surcharges for S2 (Safe & Secure) cylinders
- Keyed alike new: € 6,50
- Keyed alike reordered: € 9,00
- Locking system new: € 11,25
- Locking system reordered: € 14,00
The above prices include VAT and exclude any shipping costs.
Typing errors and price changes reserved.
The surcharges for Iseo cylinders are slightly higher.

Draw up a locking plan with a cross chart (in Excel)
With a cross chart you can easily create a good overview of your wishes for a customized locking plan. In this Excel matrix you indicate which keys have access to which cylinders, as well as the dimensions, type of cylinder and the number of keys required. This allows us to draw up a complete locking plan together that perfectly matches your wishes and situation.
Below you can see what a locking plan ultimately looks like:

You can also outsource (mostly of) the preparation of your customized locking plan to us. This can save time, effort and worry. This way you can be sure that the plan is implemented properly and meets your expectations. It also helps to avoid possible mistakes or problems that may arise if you try to prepare the key plan yourself without the proper knowledge and expertise.
You can decide for yourself how much you want to outsource.
In all cases, there will of course first be a proper consultation to properly map out your wishes and the situation.

Cylinder with proof of ownership or certificate
Choose cylinders with patent protection, also known as copy protection, to prevent employees or residents from making additional keys themselves. With the ISEO F9 SKG three-star cylinders you will receive a (ownership) certificate, which means that additional keys can only be made upon presentation of this certificate. This way you always maintain control over the keys in circulation.
Locking plans for catering establishments, companies, apartment complexes and amusement parks
Key plans are often used in offices, hotels, schools, zoos and by homeowners' associations (owners' associations). In this system, the manager has access to all areas, while guests, cleaners, residents or animal caretakers only have access to certain areas within the complex. For example, a cleaning room, a shared bicycle shed or an animal shelter.
Keyed alike cylinders for your home situation
Do you want the convenience of one central key for all your doors and shed or garage? Then choose a set with keyed alike cylinders.
You can order additional cylinders quickly and easily on our page 'Reorder Euro profile cylinders (by key code)' using the key number on your key or with a key certificate.
Key management system
Managing a key plan can be a time-consuming task, especially for organizations with large buildings or multiple locations. That's why it can be useful to use a professional key management system that helps you organize, track and secure your key plan. With a key management system you can easily assign, track and block keys, as well as generate detailed reports on key and access point usage.
Evaluate key plan
It is also important to regularly review and update the key plan to ensure that it continues to meet the needs and requirements of your organization. For example, if new employees are hired or new access control technology is implemented, the key plan should be adjusted to reflect these changes.
Finally about the key plan or locking plan
In short, a good key plan is essential for creating a safe and secure environment for your building and employees. By establishing and maintaining a detailed and organized key plan, you can effectively manage access control and minimize potential risks. With a professional key management system you can simplify the management of your key plan and better secure your building.
